I ventured out this morning for a coffee and returned with my shoes damp and covered with leaves. Aaarrgghh! Many of you will remember Savannah’s September 11th post about Aigle boots - a time-honoured way for dealing with rainy weather so I won’t belabour that point today. However, I have been thinking about suitability.

Last Friday I had a great time at the ROM’s Friday Night Live. I checked out an informative map exhibit promoting Of Africa, I toe-tapped and shimmied to the drumming, and did a vigorous one-two as the DJ’s did their thing. By the end of the night my feet were mincing along begging for relief. Why? I wasn’t wearing the right shoes. I was styling in high heels, when I should have gone mid or low instead. Some people can wear high shoes all day and then go dancing at night, obviously I am not one of them. My tootsies were still mad all day Saturday.

Whether it’s about adapting to the weather, or going dancing with friends, it’s best to pick a pair of shoes suited for the occasion. “Suitable” is a very subjective word, ‘cause what’s right for me isn’t the same for someone else. Know what works for you and go with it.
