With the spring season right around the corner (yay) it’s time to start thinking spring footwear. More specifically, time to start spring cleaning out our wardrobes and building our must-have wishlists. To kick start the process we did our fashion homework and studied the runways and now we’re passing our knowledge onto you. From sky-high platforms to strappy sandals, these are the biggest shoe trends of spring 2022 that are strutting straight off the catwalk and into the crosswalk.

Imagine the groovy essence of a ‘70s platform mixed with the sassiness of a Y2K Bratz doll. Designers like Donatella Versace, Lanvin and more sure did just that to create focal footwear for their Spring/Summer 2022 runway shows. Try leaning into the retro vibes by pairing platforms with printed tights and a mini skirt.
There’s no denying that Summer 2022 will be synonymous with bright colours, but if the catwalks of Miu Miu, Tom Ford and more taught us anything it’s that metallic footwear is not to be overlooked. Don’t leave home without your favourite sunglasses, because everything from strappy heels to sensible sandals will have a high shine finish.
It may feel like the strappy, gladiator-style sandal is making a comeback, but let’s be honest, did it really go anywhere? From flat sandals that lace up knee-high to block heels that wrap around the ankle, consider the warrior-like style the combat boots of summer.
All Season Booties
This past fall, we saw boots getting taller. The Spring/Summer 2022 runways showed hems getting shorter, but they also showed a match made in fashion heaven. You don’t have to say goodbye to your favourite boots once spring hits (hurray). Try pairing them with a skirt set or long sleeve dress. While tall pointed boots were all over the fashion week, designers like Rodarte and Jil Sander showed us that any boot and skirt pairing is still trendy this summer.
Oxfords and Loafers
A practical departure from sky-high platforms, but don’t underestimate the versatility of a loafer or oxford. The slightest detail (like a bold buckle or lug-sole) can take them from preppy to punk. Move out of the way dress and sneaker combo, designers, like Jil Sander, prove loafers and slips make for a must-have look.
