The Top 6 Colour Trends For Spring 2022

When you think of Spring 2022, there is one connective thread across all upcoming fashion trends- colour. We’re talking head-to-toe highlighter hues.

As observed on the Spring/Summer 2022 runways, designers took their use of hues to new heights. Pulling inspiration from saturated sunsets, the runways of Paris and New York all featured a spectacular spectrum of shades from zesty yellows, oranges and greens to dreamy blue tones. Designers from Jason Wu, Stella McCartney, Proenza Schouler and more have all dubbed these saturated shades spring’s unofficial (official) uniform.

Wardrobe minimalists and trend hunters alike, we’re here to help you crack this colour craze. Drawing on inspiration directly from the runways and styling tips straight from the streets, we’ve rounded up the top 6 projected shades of spring 2022.

Luminous Lilac

For our fashion minimalists who are looking for a new colour to adopt, look no further than lilac. This shade can be comparable to an off-white hue when finished with grey undertones and will pair effortlessly with the neutrals already in your wardrobe. The softest shade of spring is not to be underestimated. When a structured piece is finished in this dreamy shade ( like Aknvas summer suit set) it commands attention.

Bold & Blue-tiful

Living up to its namesake, blue is having a royal moment. From saturated royal blues to softer shades of cerulean (that one’s for all our Devil Wears Prada fans), blue is the undeniable reigning shade of spring. While unexpected, there’s something elegant about a blue heel- especially when paired with blue jeans to visually elongate the legs.

Hello Yellow

It’s no surprise that this sunny shade is back on the Spring/Summer 2022 trend list. If you recall, Summer 2021 was all about a mellow yellow, but like the rest of the shades this summer, 2022 is all about a vibrant lemon-like hue. Usually associated with youth and cheer, yellow has a romantic side- as captivated by Jason Wu in a renaissance off-the-shoulder gown and Alexander McQueen in a dreamy tool silhouette.

Outstanding Orange

Think of rich, saturated sunset orange. Feeling bold? Try styling the colour head-to-toe as Proenza Schouler did on their Spring/Summer 2022 runway. We recommend following suit by pairing it with a contrasting colour (like they did with a blue bag). Psst…we also think pairing your fave mini skirt with orange heels is also a bold look.

Glorious Green

Gorgeous shades of green spanning from rich Kelly greens to zestier lime tones were strutting all over the Spring/Summer 2022 runways. While the head-to-toe styling of the colour made us want to ditch our LBD for a green one, our favourite way to wear the rich green shade is inspired straight from the streets. Although pink and green sound like an unlikely pairing, we cannot get out of our heads. Wondering how to pull off this bold colour combo? Stick to pairing colours of the same spectrum- opt for two bold hues or two subdued pastels.

Punchy in Pink

This isn’t Barbie’s classic pink. The pink of Spring/Summer 2022 is a mix between magenta with undertones of purple and the fluorescent fuchsia tones. From jumpsuits to heels, this hot pink makes a serious statement while still capturing the playfulness of a traditional pink.
